Our story

Two dresses, made slowly.

Sadan is a very small house in Cairo. We make a very small number of things, and we would like to keep it that way.

It started as a complaint

Everything modest we could find was either shapeless or stiff. Wide, but without any shape to it. Or beautifully cut, and impossible to sit down in. Nothing seemed to be made by anyone who actually had to wear it through a long day.

So we stopped looking and started making. Not a collection — one dress. Then, months later, a second one.

Why only two

Because two is what we can do properly. Every fabric we use, we have worn ourselves for weeks before it went anywhere near a customer. We know how it behaves in Cairo heat, how it creases in a car, whether it survives a wash.

We would rather make two pieces properly than twenty in a hurry. When there is a third, it will be because it earned its place, not because a season demanded one.

What we mean by softness

Rooted in softness is not about the fabric, though the fabric is soft. It is about the way we would like you to feel wearing it — covered, comfortable, and not performing for anybody.

For the quietly confident. That is the whole brief.
